Cuttack: Cash-rich Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) is all set to organise Orissa Premier League (OPL) T-20 cricket matches in line with the ongoing IPL tournament, which is running profitably in its fourth edition now.

"The OCA Council in its monthly meeting today okayed the proposal and the tournament is scheduled to begin in the second week of May," said OCA secretary Asirbad Behera.

There would be ten teams up for sale which would be owned by franchisees who could be either corporate houses, individuals or district associations, he said adding the base price of each team would be Rs 4 lakh.

The OPL teams would be located in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Keonjhar, Angul, Jharsuguda, Puri and Kendrapara.

"The owners of these teams would be allowed to purchase at least 20 players, ten of whom shall be from these venues and adjacent areas," Behera said.

OCA has prepared a list of 80 cricketers whose base prices would be announced soon and they would be listed for auction to be purchased by the franchisees, he said adding each franchisee would have a limit of Rs six lakh in its purse to purchase the players.
